TU-K Nanosatellite launched at Konza Technopolis
The Technical University of Kenya, Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences launched a nanosatellite dubbed TUKSat-1, at Konza Technopolis on a 1U Model nanosatellite demo event organised by Kenya Space Agency (KSA).
The demo event provided an avenue to witness the functionality of the nanosatellite systems to a panel of judges, participating universities as well as the event conveners -KAS.

Engineers Board of Kenya seeks to set prices for Engineering services
The Engineers Board of Kenya is among the professional bodies that are pushing to set minimum prices for services offered in the industry. The engineer’s body has proposed setting up of a price floor for all engineering services arguing that this will ensure quality services, safety and welfare to the public.
This move however has been opposed by the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) which is the body mandated to ensuring that there is a competitive market and ensuring consumer protection. The Technical University of Kenya has admitted 4135 new students for the 2021/2022 Academic Year. Starting September 27 through October 1, the University staged an intensive virtual orientation exercise for the Freshers aired live on TU-K’s website and social media platforms where students can still watch, even now, in case they missed any session.

For the second year in a row, the Technical University of Kenya has today virtually held its 9th graduation ceremony.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ms. Mumina Bonaya – Chief Administrative Secretary representing the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education, Prof. George Magoha, asked local universities to start preparing for the Competency Based Curriculum in readiness for the students who will be joining the institutions in a few years.

Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) at universities in Kenya often leaves female students with internal wounds beneath the ‘happy faces’ seen on graduation day. As SGBV is frequently camouflaged by a culture of intimidation and silence, addressing the issue is a challenge. When it comes to confidentiality, the protection of survivors and their dignity, and the dissemination of appropriate information, poor university responses and systems can leave the traumatised victims in limbo.

The Technical University of Kenya has made it to the top 6 universities in Kenya and number 147 in Africa.
According to the latest Webometrics World University Ranking that was compiled in December 2020, TU-K emerged 6th falling closely behind top public universities. This was the highest ranking the University has attained since it was first established as a University College in 2009 and later in 2013 when it was renamed The Technical University of Kenya and chartered as a fully-fledged university.
In the world, TU-K was ranked at number 3845 among more than 31,000 institutions of higher learning.

A team of researchers from the Technical University of Kenya has won a Sh9.4 million grant from Facebook to study cyber-bullying on Facebook among undergraduate students in Kenyan universities.
The research project titled “Pixels hurt more than sticks and stones: confronting cyber-bullying on Facebook” was selected from 189 applications worldwide. The one-year project will investigate the nature, prevalence and effects of cyber-bullying on Facebook among undergraduate students in 16 public and 8 private universities in Kenya.

The 2018 KCSE candidates who have been placed at the TU-K by Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) will be the pioneer group for the new four-term academic calendar.

Following boards visit on February 26, 2019 at the University, EBK issued the all-important approval of both Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering programmes.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed has announced the government will allocate Sh3 billion on research and development activities in the next financial year. This is a six-fold rise from Sh500 million that the government allocated in the ending financial year.

Higher Education Loans board CEO Charles Ringera said Technical and Vocational Education and Training graduates have a 98 per cent chance of getting employed within a month after graduation.

Granting of University Charter and Re-scheduling of Lectures
The Kenya polytechnic University College shall be granted University Charter and elevated to full university status by His Excellence, Hon. Mwai Kibaki, C.G.H., M.P., PRESIDENT AND Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of Kenya on Tuesday 15th January 2013.
In order to facilitate for the smooth preparation and running of the function, the College Management Board has approved that lectures scheduled to take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th January 2013, be rescheduled.
Consequently, the College will be closed for classes on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th January 2013. Lectures are hereby asked to reschedule their lectures as appropriated in order to compensate for any lost time.... Read more
